The Master Plan

Updated: Mar 5, 2020

Over the years I've tried various organizational techniques and products. Here are just a few:

FranklinCovey, when it was a paper based system

Palm Pilot

2Do

Asana

Reminders

Outlook

Trello

Looking back, my organization was best when I used a paper based system. For me, electronic systems keep losing information, dropping appointments and other important things. Bad luck? Maybe, but I can't afford those kinds of losses with this endeavour! Problem is, paper based systems aren't always as flexible as I would like. It was time to do a little research.

That's when I discovered the Bullet Journal, a paper based system that's flexible.

We're not talking about the artsy ones that you can find all over YouTube, which can be very pretty but are too time consuming for my needs. No, we're talking about the very basic journaling method that is taught on their website. I've been using it for a couple of months now, in preparation for I Ho Chuan, and it's been great so far, with a few minor tweaks. So the master plan is to use this journaling method. Will it work for the whole year? Let's find out, shall we?

What methods or tools do you use to stay organized? Please share your planning method, the failures, and the successes in the comments below.

Happy New Year!

Elizabeth
