As of writing this blog, I'm at 1083 Random Acts of Kindness out of the 1000 that was the goal for the year. That feels good! It's one of the few goals set for I Ho Chuan (IHC) this year that were at all possible, for me, to complete as the end of the (Chinese) year approached.
But just checking off lists is not what this is supposed to be about! Though I admit to the sense of accomplishment that it brings when I can tick that box.
No, mastery is what all this is about. Doing your best to achieve mastery of something. Perfection is impossible but mastery is possible even as it is ongoing. So this is about forming good habits, about sticking to it, about not giving up, about self evaluation, about incremental improvement, and more.
So, what have I learned working on the 1000 Random Acts of Kindness component of the IHC journey? I need to be more aware of when I'm doing them. More present, if you will. There were many times I could probably have recorded more, if I had just thought about it. I also learned that I do more than I thought I did.
