Thirty two Western Tiger Salamanders were caught in my basement stairwell. We’re often picking salamanders, toads, and frogs out of there because once the sun comes out they eventually die because they can’t get themselves out of the stairwell on their own. This was the first time there were so many of them. We released them into the swale ditch, which is moist most of the year.
Figure that counts for the Random Acts of Kindness.
There was something about yesterday’s class that I wanted to write about, other than that I really enjoyed it, but it seems I’ve been distracted (salamanders!) and can’t remember what it was now. Juggling bean bags in class definitely makes me want to dig out my juggling balls at home again to get better at juggling.
One thing I noticed in the class, and in general, is that even though I have troubles with my ability to judge distance with my eyesight, getting a feel for how much force, direction, etc. to throw the bean bag seems to make up for a lot of it. In other words, I’m able to feel not just see where things are. This is always something that worries me with sparring because I am afraid I will hurt my training partner because of my eyesight. Maybe this is also why I always enjoy “sticky hands”.
