As I've been slowly finishing tasks/projects that I'm obligated to complete by certain dates the "light at the end of the tunnel" is getting closer. The mind feels slightly freer and lighter with each completion. This has allowed me to think a bit more about Kung Fu and I Ho Chuan (IHC) and what I want to do with it, get from it, give to it, etc.
Something that came to mind recently was a comparison between what I was taught at a young age about prayer - that when you pray, afterwards you act as though your prayer was answered in the way you hoped. Of course I wasn't taught to pray for material things but spiritual qualities (empathy, trustworthiness, caring, knowledge, inspiration, unity, etc.). "Create in me a pure heart, O my God, and renew a tranquil conscience with in me" is a line from one of the prayers.
Inspiration!
That's how I need to treat my Kung Fu!
If I want to be a black belt, I need to act like one! I don't know everything that entails but I do know that I took a step in the right direction by joining IHC. I'm only a yellow belt, but IHC is a requirement for getting your black belt. Thus, by doing IHC it's one step in the direction of living like a black belt. As I learn more about what it is to be a black belt I can apply that knowledge, as best I can.
