Failures as Learning Tools

I dared to do something different, something I'm not familiar with, and... it didn't work. That's OK though. That's how we learn. I will keep working on it. Maybe take a different approach and play with it digitally to see what might work and then try again with traditional media once I work out some kinks. I find water VERY difficult to draw. It was very hard to find any good reference photos for what I wanted to portray too.

That's also how I approach Kung Fu. I try to always remember that the Kwoon is a safe place to make mistakes. That's where I will learn the most. Being comfortable with my mistakes is still hard, but if I remain cognizant of the value of mistakes I know I will benefit from them... as long as I learn from them.

Speaking of learning. I'm finding it very interesting seeing the patterns that have developed by using a spread sheet to track my goals and numbers for IHC this year. I've also kept track of things like, when I was sick, when my spouse was home, visitors, marking marathons, student clinics, etc. I can see how each of these things affected my numbers, good or bad. I've always known I need to aim for larger daily numbers to offset... well... life, but this year is the first year that I've felt like I may have increased my body's capacity, fitness, enough to do so. Hopefully that means next year, the year of the rabbit, will have much better numbers than in previous years. I still foresee many more planks than pushups though.

Work, Rest, Repeat

Not a good week energy wise. After the back to back classes (attempting to help with Level 1 class, then attending my own class) last week I have been extremely exhausted ever since. Ended up working

Tired and Spaces

Last week I said I wanted to pay more attention to what’s preventing me from training, and where the spaces are, in my life, for training. While I still didn’t get much training done (I really do feel
