Get out!

Today was one of those days. As a result I kept replaying things in my head, tormenting myself with what ifs and other things. Berating myself. As though that ever does any good. It’s a mindset that doesn’t help anyone, and makes me feel miserable.

Then off to Kung Fu class. One hour of blissfully getting out of my own head. All I have to worry about is what my body is doing and understanding what we are being taught. Some of what we did was a little different than the usual patterns. For example: jab, reverse, hook, reverse. In the past we’ve done a lot of jab, reverse, hook, uppercut. Trying to keep those six harmonies going with that last reverse as we step back was definitely something that got me out of my own head. There was no room for mental self torment when I was trying to get that done.

It was so nice to get out!

Now, what am I going to do to prevent ending up in the destructive mind loop again? Hmmm… Apparently blog about it, for starters. With a (photo) side of cute. Well I think hedgehogs are cute anyway.

That said, my spinning back kick felt better tonight. Bad is better than terrible, right? Seriously though, it felt like there was some slight improvement because I felt a touch steadier on my feet. I’ll take the wins I can get!

I’m glad you are realizing the benefits of getting out, seeing others with a positive mindset and getting a good workout. it is also great to see your progress in class.

The more you practice, the more you’ll get used to the momentum of the spin, the more your balance will improve, so practice practice practice :D
