Today is the start of the Fast. I’m not doing it. I debated whether I should or not. Am I letting mediocrity into my life by not doing it?
Since starting Kung Fu I have found the Fast much harder to do. No food or drink from sunrise to sunset used to be fairly easy, even though it’s nineteen days long. It’s funny, people ask me if I’ve heard of Intermittent fasting, I’ve been doing this every year since I was fifteen except when ill or pregnant. This year and last I have not done it.
Reasons? This year my thoughts are that I’ve already been tired lately. My physical activity is much increased with both Kung Fu and the gardening/farming tasks. Fasting isn’t recommended when doing hard physical labour. It’s been harder to stay warm when working out in the cold this year.
Doing the Fast AND doing Kung Fu meant going all day without food and drink, then sunse… oops, no, Kung Fu class. Then, 7:30 pm and class has ended, OK now I can eat… when I get home… in half an hour or so. I tried bringing healthy snacks but that didn’t work out very well either.
So, I’m taking the chance that I may be letting mediocrity in.
What am I doing instead?
Being more cognizant of what I’m putting in my body. That is one of the things the Fast has always done for me and I see no reason why that part should change.
Hmmm… I think I see more smoothies in my near future.
I am a firm believer in it is what we eat and not how we eat.
