As expected, there were distractions this week and it resulted in my not working on my numbers (goals) for three days. So I had to play catchup today, Saturday. Finally I have reached my goals for the week.

Other accomplishments this week include:

Changing my art mentorship from one month quarterly to once per week ongoing. Not only is it less expensive per month but it will probably be a more manageable schedule than what I did before. It wasn’t leaving a lot of room to do things towards my other goals.

Who knew that designing just one creature could take so much time? Of course, I’m new to it but it’s time consuming. My homework right now consists of doing more views of the creature, still playing with design elements that we might want to change, doing something called a “sprite sheet”, and creating a “money shot” (usually a three quarter view of the entire creature). Oh, I also have to create explanations or drawings that show any unique features about the creature, how it lives and eats, where it lives, climate, etc.

Really enjoyed my IHC class this week. It reminded me of my massage therapist who is always getting after me for my posture. The whole time the Sifu was telling us what to look for (or feel) I kept hearing my massage therapist’s voice also telling me how to stack my spine and use my feet to grasp the world, among other things. Being told what to look for and feel was very helpful and answered a question I had about my open-X stance that I hand never ventured to ask before. I always look forward to the beginning of the year IHC classes!

Oh! One of my goals for this year is to test out the possibility of a weapon I would like to try next year. I wasn’t able to answer the Sifu’s question about being able to do the weapon in the the circumstances that we usually do for demonstration (close proximity to other people). My goal this year is to play with it and see if I can answer the question by the end of the year. However, I need to make (or buy) the weapon in order to figure this out. That said, I obtained most of the materials yesterday to make the weapon. So, that is also progress.
