Repetitions goals for the week
Here are the numbers that I managed to get done this week followed by the number I was aiming for. Thank you everyone who helped me today at Open Training, you made it possible for me to complete this weeks number goals while I was there. I really didn’t think I was going to find a way to complete the numbers for the sit-ups equivalents because I’d been struggling with my back this week.

The Greatcoat project
Has had minimal progress. I ordered a new bullet shuttle and bobbins for my old Singer sewing machine. They should arrive sometime in the next two weeks. It’s pretty sad when the nearly 101 year old (made March 17, 1924) sewing machine is more reliable than the other two more modern machines that I have, which are both unusable and need to go to the repair shop.
Weapon for next year
Started making the weapon to test out for possible use next year. Need a couple more supplies it turns out. At least it’s one step closer to being done.
Art like it’s my job
Back to thumbnailing creatures because I’m not happy with the lack of imagination the current version has. I still feel that it’s caused by my limited visual library. However, there is a certain amount of letting things go and loosening up a bit more that also helped allow new ideas to form. Mostly did some random scribbling and then saw what my imagination could make out of the scribbles, kind of like seeing shapes in clouds. It also helped to take a break from the creature design and just colour in one of the Acts Of Kindness week colouring pages (above). There’s still such a long way to go on this art journey. Admittedly, I’m very impatient to get it to the stage of doing a full rendering of the creature.
Decluttering
Glad that I’ve decluttered enough of my life to be able to do my Kung Fu as a higher priority than I was able to in the past. I hope I can keep my life decluttered enough for that in the years to come.
Got rid of some old clothes this week and did a little digital decluttering as well.
Result, so far, of setting the weekly goals
It’s been really nice for keeping myself on track. It’s been easier to not put things off and say, “oh I’ll catch up tomorrow” or “I’ll catch up next week”. It’s much less daunting to have to only get 1000 done in a week rather than focusing on needing to get 50,000 done in a year. It’s amazing how doing my weekly Kung Fu numbers makes me feel like I accomplished something, and often more energized.
I know it’s going to get more difficult to stick to my goals as the year progresses because that’s been the case every year that I’ve been on the IHC team. So I’m worried about whether I can stick to it over the year. For example, I’m not sure what I’ll be able to do come growing season when I’m often so physically exhausted even without adding Kung Fu to the mix.
