Course Adjustments

Progress isn’t always pretty but without messy pages like this in my sketchbook I wouldn’t be learning as much as I have been.
Wix is still doing weird stuff with the photos.
Feeling the need for some course adjustments. I’ve been really good about art like it’s my job lately, but fell down on most other things. So I wonder if I would do better if I did sprints (themes?) each week. It’s much easier for me to keep track and stay focused on one thing than on many. Maybe if I, for example, concentrate on improving flexibility this week and something else next week, gradually rotating through my different goals so that they each get a little extra attention at some point it might make things work better? The year that I did all 1000 of my weapon form repetitions was also the one where I specifically focused on it for a time. The others can still be worked on and tracked but the focus will be on one thing at a time.
This reminds me of cognitive shifting, and how it can be hard and energy draining to make cognitive shifts all the time. As a teenager I remember that every time my homework was interrupted by my mother, because she wanted me to do something for her, it would take 30 minutes to get back into the zone I had been in before the interruption. I wonder if that applies here, to my training and goals. It shouldn’t hurt to test it out.
That said, I have been happier about my Random Acts of Kindness numbers and tracking lately. Hopefully, I can continue that throughout the rest of the year.
Lately, my shoulders have been giving me grief, hurting even doing mundane tasks like opening a sliding door. Unfortunately, this impacts my numbers, my training, and even training the dogs because one of their biggest rewards is playing tug with a ball on a rope. My back is giving me grief too, but I partly have myself to blame since I haven’t tested out all the alternatives that I’ve been given for working core muscles, which may help ease the problem. V-sits, and sit-ups aggravate it though. Stretching usually makes things feel better. Thus, I think the focus for this week will be on flexibility.
