One of my goals for this year's I Ho Chuan is to draw more. Even if it's just little doodles.
I am an artist. Always have been, for as long as I can remember, but I don't think I've ever really striven for mastery at it. Yet it has brought me experiences I never expected to have.
When I was a single mom, professional belly dancing kept the money coming in to help me and my two children.
Calligraphy allowed me the privilege of working in the movie and television industry for a brief time. That was my all time favourite calligraphy work. I miss it!
But art isn't just the visual arts, it is also the healing arts, which I do strive for mastery in all the time.
And then there is martial arts. I was so happy to learn that Silent River Kung Fu's approach to martial arts encompassed so much more than just learning how to fight. The journey to mastery here has been slower than I would like, and my body seems to want to betray me, but I'm still here, and it's helped me feel so much better in my own skin than I have in a very long time.
