Long Delayed Update

It’s been a while. For some reason it was hard to get the ball rolling again after being away for a month. It sure was nice to be away for a month in places with little or no cell/internet service! It is so weird to think back to (not that long ago) when we didn’t even have such things, and now everyone seems to be expected to be available 24/7. Can’t seem to use a public bathroom these days without hearing someone taking a phone call in one of the other stalls. I find it hard to figure out where my personal boundaries should be when it comes to connectivity. Everyone has their own opinions on the matter, but which one is right for me? One boundary is easy for me though, if I wouldn’t invite the person physically into the bathroom with me then I won’t take their phone call there either!

One of the art goals for this year was to do Inktober, the 100 Head Challenge, and one other challenge that was to be decided during the year. Well, I did get a little drawing done while I was away (worked on it during a wedding to be honest). The prompt for the first day of Inktober was Mustache (the drawing with his post). However, I haven’t completed all the prompts. So far, I only got eight of them done. I’m hoping to finish them even though October is over, but we will see. During the winter holiday season I’m hoping to complete the other two challenges. I think the third challenge I’ll choose is the 500 thumbnails challenge.

Last year when I was away on holiday, granted not for as long, I was able to get a lot more Kung Fu training (forms etc.) done but this year didn’t work out like that, which was disappointing for me because I was counting on that.

That’s pretty much it. No real excuses just didn’t get it done. My back and shoulders are happy about it but my numbers and progress… not so much.

One thing I’m noticing about my goals is that I think I still have too many, or that they need to be broken down into smaller chunks or something, and the goals I have for IHC are only some of them. Allocating time and priority to things has long been a difficult problem that I’m still learning how to do effectively. I still find myself taking on too much, which tends to set me up for failure on most of them.
