Week 5 Goals

With the way things went last week, and with the upcoming disturbances this week, the numbers goals for this week are as follows:

  • Pushups (modified): 1000

  • Sit-ups (modified: 1000

  • Weapon form: 50

  • Hand form: 25

 

Art Like It’s My Job goals are to complete the 5 creature head designs in ¾ view and one somewhat more detailed full body drawing in profile, and also to draw several pages in my sketchbook. I would like to finish watching, and following along with, the current set of Aaron Blaise art tutorial videos I just started (drawing horses) but would settle for at least watching some of them.

 

Decluttering goal is to make some significant advances in decluttering another major project. I don’t expect to get it finished due to the schedule this week but I want to see noticeable progress. Previously decluttered areas have apparently acquired “clutter magnets” and I want to nip some of those in the bud too.

 

I finally got back to some of my self improvement (self mastery?) reading last night (what else is there to do when sitting on your butt resting your knee?). Finally finished Slow Productivity by Cal Newport. I feel like there wasn’t that much that was actionable in the book but that’s probably because I get so much out of listening to his podcasts whenever I’m driving. The stories that he shares to emphasize his points are interesting though.

 

More progress through Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is another goal, but I’m finding that one a slog. I think perhaps I started reading it with too many expectations after so many people telling me how much it created “aha!” moments for them. I’m finding that it’s one of those books that I just can’t wait for it to be finished so I can move on. Maybe that will change as I continue through it? I’m just starting chapter 13. Maybe I should just set a goal to read a chapter a day? Not this week though because there’s already too much going on.

 

Continuing reading Four Thousand Weeks. As a person who tends to take on more than she can possibly handle, this one has resonated much more with me.
